    OVERTIME? SIMON SAYS: NO!

Three cheers and a beer for workingman's hero SIMON BAKER, the bighearted star of "The Mentalist," who rescued cast and crew from slaving way into the wee hours.

After several episodes of late-night filming, Simon simmered as crew members grumbled that they weren't getting home until after 2 a.m.

In a showdown with the show's brass, Simon negotiated a deal to limit night shooting - and even when it was unavoidable, all filming had to be completed at a reasonable hour so everyone could be home by midnight.

The grateful crew's dubbed him "Sensational Simon."

Excerpt:  Margin Call    Opens: April 15th 2011
Summary: A thriller that revolves around the key people at a large investment bank over a 24-hour period during the early stages of the financial crisis when the economic world was on the verge of collapse.

Analysis: A great big ensemble indie drama exploring the tensions at a financial firm in a 24-hour period during the first signs of the economic near collapse on Wall Street in September 2008. The time limit is an odd one for the film as, though the stock drops were fast and the whole month has become known as a horror time for many investors, there wasn't really one single disastrous day ala Black Tuesday. The impact also didn't really flow through on many major businesses until weeks or months down the line.
With many parts of the world still getting over the GFC's impact though, this tale is still very much a relevant one. Shot in New York City this past Summer, the cast list is astonishing - Jeremy Irons as the firm's CEO, Demi Moore as the chief risk management officer, Paul Bettany as a top-tier trader, Simon Baker as a ruthless securities broker, and Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci and Zachary Quinto as analysts who ... The husband-and-wife acting team of Simon Baker, from The Mentalist, and Rebecca Rigg recorded a profitable property play when their Malibu home fetched $US5,185,000 in 2005.
The five-bedroom house had cost $US1,650,000 in 2001. It was a 1957 single-storey ranch-style house with detached guest house.
Property records indicate it was sold again in October last year for $US4 million. It came with access rights to the Little Dune private beach.
The couple now reside at a Santa Monica home with pool which cost $US4.8 million in 2007.
