Simon said that he didn't do Red John's voice.

Well, of course he won't admit it!!! LOL. Who asked him the question? Was it you Fran? Did you get to chat with SB and forget to invite us all along?! lol.

As for did he, didn't he with Lorelai? I am more and more convinced he didn't. But...if he did, it shows that he will do anything to get his hands on Red John and would probably convince himself that it was all in the name of the battle (plus what happens in vegas stays in vegas! lol)

I was wondering what book PJ was reading sitting in the chair when Rigsby comes into the hall where the team meets. I checked Amazon, and by the look and color of the cover it seems to be "Modern Man in Search of a Soul" by C. G. Jung. Any reason why he would be reading this particular book? I've seen Owain holding a C. G. Jung book in a video about the behind the scenes Mentalist, but not sure if it's the same one. Hm....

Ah, you got the title, I tried to read it but couldn't. I only figured it's by C.G. Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist. Maybe PJ is interested in psychology since he's using a lot of tricks and knows how the mind ticks ...I have a book with a lot of references to C.G. Jung books. I might check this one out :-)

Okay, Simon said he didn't the RJ voice. I listened carefully when I watched again yesterday and I really don't hear Simon ...and why would they do that? Doesn't he have enough work? And I'm very sure he is NOT RJ.
I didn't get it though that Simon said that, was it in the little clip from the finale set with Emanuelle???

I posted the info as a comment on one of the onset photos posts in Latest News. Bluemoon managed to get to see the filming and asked Simon the question (Bluemoon is very busy at the moment, but I hope she'll be able to tell us all about it when she has the time). I think we can rely on Simon's answer, because if it was his voice I'm sure he would have avoided a direct answer rather than tell an outright lie.

I'm inclined to agree as well, trusting Red John is not something to do. Friend might mean listening device for all we know!

My theory (for what it's worth biggrin ) is that the informant is within the CBI, which seems to me to be a much more dangerous situation for the team. RJ wasn't going to kill Jane, and if he suspected a CBI informant, he and the team would try to do something about it. Being their own backyard, they have some authority there, whereas I don't think they'd be able to do much with the FBI. So it makes sense to me that RJ would want to try and throw Jane off the scent.

Hmmm...still not convinced it's not SB's voice. wink It could be that Bruno's playing with us because of all the previous speculation about RJ's voice and he's mixing it up a bit (God, I'm so suspicious!!! lol) by having different people do the voice . I would never cast aspersions on SB's honesty, but he is a very good actor and wouldn't want to ruin anything for the fans by giving it away. Plus he is capable of different voices (Dave Martin ; and the Texan accent - which btw was very sexy -'floosies in jacuzzis' lol.) But I guess I'll have to accept his word....Cool that the question was even asked to him (can I plead for credit for mentioning it first and prompting the question? That would take me a dreamy degree closer to SB! lol biggrin ) So so wish I was Bluemoon right now!

You're correct about the title. I looked at the screen caps and in one shot you can see the words "Modern man" clearly (his fingers are over the rest of the title) but the author is clearly C.G. Jung.

It always amuses me when the book he's reading is something like "Amazing Baseball Facts" or whatever (Jane apparently likes sports trivia!)

Yeah, Jane's bookshelf collection is quite eclectic! As for the Jung book, one of the chapters is about the psychological theories of types - I guess Jane is either using it as a reference to confirm a hunch or is trying to categorise RJ.

And speaking of hunches...been pondering the title The Crimson Hat --- came up with De Bono's thinking hats - the red one is about intuition, hunches and gut feelings - you think there's a connection? I do. cool

We asked a couple of people connected with the show on twitter about the title. We got two different answers! Editor Jimmy Gadd said that it was an University of Alabama (they are the Crimson Tide) reference that apparently has been referred to before? And Ashley Gable said she thought that was the name of the bar/casino in which Lorelai works (you actually don't see any name so I can't confirm on that).

Oh okay... thanks for that. Guess I should stick to Occum's Razor a little bit more! cool

Criimson Tide was referred to by Kristina Frye and Red John in S2 finale - Roll Tide.

Crimson hat I thought that the melon ( fake head) was in a hat box and crimson due to the blood except there wasn't any......
I still think PJ did sleep with Lorelei and that the kiss scene at the end was putting Lisbon out of her misery so she knew immediately that it was true and not left wondering ( ripping the plaster off quickly move). I think that he is maybe moving on from his wife emotionally ( saw E23 again last night and when intviewing the ex fiancé of the dead guy he said" you've moved on. It happens. Don't feel guilty"). This doesn't mean he is less committed to catching RJ

Maybe I am being too simplistic! Bruno is a genius and Simon can really walk on water! I hope Bruno keeps us guessing with lots of ambiguity re Lorelei cos that makes its interesting and fun. ( was I the only one who wanted to see a little more of the kiss scene?..) tongue

There are many theories about the meaning of the title. I have found one more and is interesting.
Literally: The "crimson hat" referred to in the title of this episode most likely refers to one or to both of the vestments worn by Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church. The smaller zucchetto, much like a skullcap, is worn directly upon the cardinal's head; the larger biretta, with three or four points, is worn over the zucchetto on exceptionally formal occasions. Surpassed only by the Pope in power, the College of Cardinals virtually rules the RCC and comprises the chief strength of the Vatican hierarchy; it is the cardinals who elect the Pope. Red John's having a source high in the FBI would be the laic equivalent of a criminal's having a mole in the Vatican: someone exceedingly powerful and theoretically above reproach.
Who knows which one is right.

Just watched finale again --- with regards to whether or not Jane and Lorelai were actually lovers --- I still don't think they were and am convinced it is a suggestion he has planted in her head. I had to chuckle when he woke up and she was making him breakfast. When he asked 'How did you know I love eggs?' I had the thought that it was another suggestion he planted just for the hell of it - because he could. It would be just like Jane to do that - it's his sense of humour, plus he gets something he likes! It's not like they would have had a conversation about it.

Also at the end when he tells her she will 'sing like a bird', That phrase has been bugging me, I've heard it before in the show. In Season 1, Jared Renfrew claimed he would 'sing like a bird' about Red John if Jane got him out of prison ---- could there be a connection?

What do you guys think?
