Last week we saw Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) shutting himself into his Red John ‘incident room’ with a renewed determination to finally bring down the smiley-face killer who slaughtered his family. At first it appears he might be getting close, with just seven names on a shortlist of possible suspects. However, as the episode title for tonight’s season five finale is Red John’s Rules, it’s no surprise when Jane’s quarry starts calling the shots, leaving his bloody hallmark signature at the murder scene of a victim from Jane’s past.
