TF1 Interview is now translated and has subtitles
[VIDEO HAS BEEN DELETED BY youtube] The interview on TF1 which is delightful but dubbed in French is here: (8:45) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYLfyMajm6E
Huge thank you to Totallyfan for providing the translation. I have added subtitles. On the techie side it took longer than expected (over 5 hours for 8 mins of video) - so I have renewed respect for the professionals who do this for a living. If there are any bad errors let me know and i will rectify and repost.
I found that i was able to hear more of what Simon said once i knew what to listen for - and i think the interview is quite revealing - the real impact of that music video (which must feel like a mill stone now) - is that it gave him his initial break in TV. Also I really admire his honesty and frankness about their difficulties in 1995 and moving to LA - and thankfully they managed to work through the issues. I wonder what might have prompted this now??
I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did making it. :)

Thanks Thrill and Totallyfan for this translation, lovely to see what Simon is actually saying. He seems so embarrassed about seeing himself on screen especially the role in The Devil Wears Prada...... and also so pleased when the interview was all over!!! Bless him! |

Thank you Totally fan and Thrill for all your hard work. This interview was very revealing, although poor Simon did look uncomfortable. I must admit that his role in The Devil Wears Prada was my least favourite-don't know why. |

Thank you for all of your hard work Thrill and TotallyFan! That was very interesting. I love that bit with the "sexy role" and he was like "my daughter!" LMAO. He's told the story before but it was funny the way the question was asked. Quote I wonder what might have prompted this now?? Wonder if he and Rebecca have had a recent "if we hadn't what would have happened?" convo and so it was in his head when she asked? It did seem kinda odd when so many of the other answers were things we've heard before. Think it would have been sad had they broken up. But even the happiest relationships go through strain at times where things seem bleak.

Quote (Fran) Caroline Rhea - November 2002
what's up with this show? they were bombarding Simon with lots of stuff. is this the first time they've met an aussie? and the audience is kinda quiet. carolyn was trying too hard. no wonder it got cancelled.
Simon and his smiles. I firmly believe that his smiles would have saved The Guardian.
Re: Going Tropo vid - they were so cute here arguing about being a flirt or not. Simon saying "well, it worked on you".

I think that was standard with her show. I know it was basically the old Rosie show just with a new host. In Rosie's early days she was more like that, giving guests gifts and stuff. Especially if they had kids. She did seem like she was trying too hard. Oddly she mentions that she dated (or was dating) an Aussie so obviously he wasn't the first.
Quote Re: Going Tropo vid - they were so cute here arguing about being a flirt or not. Simon saying "well, it worked on you" He really seemed like his ego needed major um stroking after they filmed that didn't he? I'm sure Rebecca was up to the task! (Though she probably called him a big baby or something as we women tend to do when our men get all pouty) |
