I think that's actually his own car, rather than the DS - the mirror looks more like the one on the Ambassador that he sometimes drives. |

I totally agree with you !
I searched the two cars and the side mirrors are different : round for the Ambassador and rectangular for the DS !! 
A few days back to work, may be it's a way of saying us : "Look, I'm back home"

I thought it was the Ambassador too because it seems to be on the street in local traffic, not on the set of TM. Can't think of a reason why he would be driving it on the street, unless he bought it, lol. |

Like the staircase it was an optical illusion (of many squares/rectangles-bldg shapes and window shapes plus the aforementioned staircase shape) and harks back to Hitchcock's Vertigo - a clue perhaps? |
