I dislike love triangle of any kind (may be except PJ vs TL vs RJ).

But still will take PJ vs TL vs Pike than PJ vs TL vs Fischer any time.

Those few episodes in which they sidelined Lisbon are my least favorite TM episodes.

PJaneloke, those are also my least favorite episodes. Their one saving grace was that Jane, in my opinion, was obviously bored stiff with Fischer and missed Lisbon. So I think the writers already knew then that Jane and Fischer wouldn't be getting together.

Would have been a big mistake to pair Jane with Fisher. I like her okay now, but not with Jane! They don't have chemistry as a couple.

I agree that suddenly pairing Jane with Fischer romantically would have been a mistake. Having built up the relationship between Jane and Lisbon for 5 seasons (and I'm not necessarily talking romantic here) it would have been out of character for Jane to suddenly have feelings for someone so soon after returning to the US and Lisbon who we know he missed. The one person he trusted most was Lisbon and although he may have seemed "interested" in Fischer on the island that's because he missed female company, ie Lisbon, and later finding out that Fischer had tricked him would make him wary of her. However, as the writers seemed intent on giving us a love triangle (and who knows why), the Pike/Lisbon relationship does seem more plausible.

In the episodes that Fischer was cast as Jane's partner I saw no chemistry whatsoever (no offence to the actress) and I find it most odd that Fischer was even considered as a romantic interest at all. I know there has to be another female in the cast, to take Van Pelt's place presumably, but personally I thought a lot of time was wasted on introducing us to Fischer, even to the point that we didn't see much of Lisbon or even Abbott at first, who I believe is a much stronger character.

As to the pairing of Jane and Lisbon as a couple I don't foresee a problem. Simon and Robin have great chemistry and as Simon has always said he likes a new challenge and I think this will give him, and the writers, a different perspective and can only enhance Jane's story and it will be nice to see Jane and Lisbon's closeness return which has been sadly lacking of late. It's a shame that the curse of "Moonlighting" (which happened a generation ago) is still with us because there have been many other shows which have succeeded that included couples which unfortunately seemed to have been forgotten.

"I had an amazing time with Robin Tunney, she is a new friend, and it was a really friendly set. And it was nice because I was sort of, I just signed a new lease on a new apartment in Los Angeles and I was able to drive myself to work every day, which was cool. And Simon is a really great guy, the two of them have a really special chemistry and it was great to see that in person.”

How strange it must have been for them to kiss ...and then in front of all this people watching. Being an actor is really hard!

I agree Tina especially everyone knowing that they are also such good friends, but who ARE all these people? Was it necessary for all of them to be there for that particular scene? I suppose they all have a job to do but it does seem strange! confused

I was allowed to visit a set in Canada a long time ago, and I remember how many people were there to watch the shootings. Even more than we see on this pic.
It was really interesting to see how it all works. I love the movie business. Could watch shootings for weeks (especially if there is a favorite actor).

I'm actress, a "little" actress who can not compare with them, obviously, but I know what a shooting is. There are always a lot of people, everybody usually knows what to do and generally, the work of the actors is the most respected thing. I've lived some moments like that and it's like a ritual, there is a complete silence and nobody can move a muscle.

Good to hear from someone who knows what goes on behind the scenes June. I'm sure your contributions are as valued as those you consider to be 'big' stars.

I got to observe James Earl Jones doing a voice recording on a show once. I basically held my breath during each take so as to make not a sound. But oh my such a voice! I would really love to watch any scene on TM being shot.

I remember a funny moment once. We were in the middle of a scene when we heard a weird noise. It was hard not to burst into laughter because the noise came from the stomach of some of us who was starving. When the director said "cut", everybody started to laugh while the sound technician shouted: "What was that? It went through my ears!"

Thanks for the insights, June. It never occurred to me that actors could have such a large audience on site. And thanks for posting that photo, Pallas. Once again, The Mentalist is educational for me. Personally, I think I would hate a job where I had to put myself emotionally on the line like that, and be stared at by so many people.
