Although I love Mentalist 2.0 a lot, I'm sorry to see how many things we loved - and PJ seemed to love - are gone: the three piece and the Citroen DS are the first two on my list of grief. But at the same time I can perfectly understand why PJ opted for this Airstream. A cool vehicle, indeed! |

I'll be after you in the queue Mossibecca and Sun. Those shirts need to go! I also miss the three piece suits and the Citroen. They made him stand out from the crowd. I'd love to see him dress like his Givenchy ads (dark suit and plain white shirt) but I know that's too much to hope for. Perhaps Lisbon having a boyfriend will make him lose that homeless vibe look.  |

Personally, I like that the three piece suits are gone.(not that he didn't look nice in them) I always thought of that vest as his emotional armor, and now he's rid of it. I feel his attire symbolizes where he is in his journey at this point. He's loosened up a bit, but still not sure where he's going, (emotionally speaking).
I understand people fell in love with the "old" Patrick Jane, but I like the newer scruffier one. He seems looser and more open. (granted, he needs more than one pair of socks) He's an actor, not a model, after all.
Oh, and Yay for the marching band.

I just looked at the pictures on set from 6.17. Looks like you vest lovers are in for a treat.

I like your idea that the vest was armor/armour and now Patrick Jane is unfettered. He has completely changed his life so he has changed his appearance.
Obviously in future episodes (6.17 pics) he seems "cleaner". Thank you Airstream van !

Hayseed - it doesn’t look to me as though he’s wearing a vest in the onset pics, but I agree with you that his clothes reflect where he is in his journey and also his state of mind. The 3 piece suit represented his past life as a trickster and showman and he doesn’t want to be constantly reminded of that part of his life at the moment. He wants a happier, more relaxed and casual approach to his life and his clothes help him to do that. It may be that he will return to the smarter, more formal appearance, but only when he no longer has to make the effort to keep his head in a good place. |

I don't mind the demise of the three piece suit, and I agree wholeheartedly that it had some symbolism regarding his state of mind, but I WOULD like a different shirt, and another suit or something, I love the laid back look it reflects his new attitude to life....that it is for living, but I'm tired of the shirt.....and he does need more socks, maybe his new hand knitted ones aren't there yet..... |
