To help bridge the summer hiatus a lot of us will rewatch episodes. Maybe you already know which your very favorite episode is so far, and would like to share with us why. I don't really have a most fav ep yet, need to rewatch a bit more but look forward to reading entries by others. |

I'm inclined to say Ruby Slippers. The Mentalist has always had heart, but that one stands above the rest. I think it's amazing from beginning to end. Great characters. Great script. That final scene doesn't only get Lisbon. 
Apart from that one, I would have a very hard time picking an all-time favorite. Most of Season 1 would qualify.

As we haven't seen all of Season 4 yet here in the UK I'm reserving judgment, but I think I know what my all time favourite will be!!  |

I keep going back to season 1 where I discovered how well Simon could pull off this strange but compelling charactor. I would have to say my Fav of that season was the bomb blast which left him temporarily blind. Watch the nuances and bravado even in Jane's demeanor. Although one can always go back to season 3 and rewatch the last scene, which he now recalls to Lorelei in this years finale, Christmas! Really! |

After finishing all seasons, my favorite episode is Red Handed, the casino episode in season 1. I don't know how many times I've watched this episode.
If I were to introduce someone to the show, I would show that person this episode. It has Jane doing his Mentalist thing in the most charming way. The interaction with the CBI team was fun. We find out Jane was a carnie, has insomnia, doesn't need money, the memory palace.
This is the episode that made me a fan. |
