Does anyone know what is going on with family??? Are they now living in Australia? Or are the boys back in school in LA?? I keep seeing pics of them all popping up when school is still in session in the USA (has been since Jan 5). Are they now enrolled in school in Australia??? |

kabuku, they all moved to Sydney after TM shootings had ended (maybe except Stella, I think she might end college in the USA ...). Simon bought an apartment in Sydney. |

A little interview in German. Maybe one of our German friend can translate it, if it's of any interest? (online translators are so awful)

Quote DS_Pallas ( )
My German isn't good enough for a proper translation, but I can understand most of it, and there doesn't seem to be anything new here. It's the usual "what is a gentleman", "who are your idols", "what is luxury for you", "what is Breath about", etc. I didn't spot anything in his answers that he hasn't already said in other interviews before. |

He really looks wild now Thank you Ivana.
I'm trying to translate the German interview ( okay, that was really really difficult! They use strange words in that interview! Maybe somebody else can do better ....):
Selfmademan Simon Baker in the weekend-interview: In January (they have this wrong ...December!) the final scene was shot of the series that made him a star all over the world in seven seasons. The Mentalist has taken off the vest forever. But the next project of the likable (?) Australian is already full in progress.
Weekend: When was the last time you acted like a Gentleman?
Simon Baker: I think being a Gentleman is for example to be interested in your fellow human beings, take care of others, be polite and to have good manners. Givenchy has made me to the face for this campaign "Gentlemen Only" maybe to remodel/modernize the term, but that doesn't mean that I would call myself as such. But I aim to be a Gentleman some day. What can I do for you ? (laughs)
Fragrances target our emotional center/ middle. What childhood memories do you have connected with fragrances?
I come from a simple home, there was not such thing as a "man fragrance". My grandfather smelled like Whiskey and cigarettes. But I have another memory, maybe you know that: You enter the lift in a hotel - and before you reach the next level and the door opens, you are overpowered with the after shave of the man who is about to enter. And when he leaves again, he leaves his scent for the full 8 levels you are still in the elevator. In my memory it was a heavy sweet smell, maybe "Kouros", pretty smelly (in a negative way).
Question to the Mentalist: With what tricks can one effectively distract from weaknesses?
The best is not to! As soon as you try to hide something you let on it more than ever. So it's better to be honest about it what you can not do or don't know. Myself, I can't recognize weaknesses of my fellow humans most of the time and if I do, I try to tell them "hey, that is nothing you have to feel bad about it"!
You did it without help from a working class heritage in Tasmania to Hollywood. How would you describe your life how it is now?
It's amazing and pretty good. There are moments when my wife and I hardly can believe it "Wow look at us now! Who whould have thought this 20 years ago?". But that's how we also feel sometimes when we watch a movie together with our three children at home.
Do you have idols, somebody you emulate?
No, I think the disappointment would be inevitable. Just the concept of an "idol" is unrealistic, because we all have our failures and weaknesses. My children and their way of thinking and acting have in many aspects an example for me. They are often more smart as I ever was.
Your recent project is the adaption of the book "Breath" about a group of young surfers. You are procucer, director and actor. What draw you to this material?
It's a very simple personal movie. The story is finding your own personality, the question: Where is my place in this world? I grew up similar to that so I know and understand the characters of the book by Tim Winton. And I spent a lot of time on the beach. This special air, when the flood comes in is still with me.
What means luxury to you?
Definately not only a suite in a 5-star-hotel. I'm confident that anything is connected with anything and it's about attitude. As soon as I think about the "big whole" I realize how important the little things are.
