I'm like Hayseed, I quite love the Jane's new (so / not so) disheveled look…

Thank you for the pic and the full version. Wow, it just totally overwhelmed me to have Simon so LARGE on my screen.
I really really love the new look and hope he will keep it, at least for a while.

I think I know what you mean… happy

This little debate about Jane's old vs new look made me think that the character of Patrick Jane is very graphical indeed.

You can simplify him with a few lines. His silhouette with the suit, the vest, the worn shoes, a thin waist, blond curls, posing with a folded arm etc

Likewise, now, the suit, the crumpled shirt, the same worn shoes, the 3 days stubble, etc
Still an unmistakable silhouette you can graphicaly stylize easily. Try to do that with most of other TV series male characters… Not so much can do so well.

Heller had originallly dressed Jane with a suit and a pair of flip-flops / thongs, and Simon added his two cents in replacing the thongs with an old pair of leather shoes (his own) and a vest (his nod to Charlie Chaplin).
We were lucky Heller let Simon have the last word happy
I don't know if Baker's choices just came from his actor's instincts, or were the fruits of a more aesthetic, and even marketing reflection, but it works tremendously well.

I like your view DS_Pallas. I think that Simon is very complex and he maybe thought of all that you mentioned, plus he said himself many times that he likes to be confortable while acting, therefore worn out shoes, couch and many little things that he is confortable with. I've noticed that he has a habit of wearing his own clothes and shoes in other roles as well. His complexity is very much part of his great talent.

Thanks syriana, vipceepee deleted the original photo and replaced it with a different version (I don't think she wanted herself in a photo that would be widely published), so I updated your post.

Yes Evy, a larger readable version has been in the Gallery for a long time. I posted it on twitter last night just because I'd never tweeted a pic before and wanted to see if it was easy to do, so I suppose its being posted in a lot of different places now. There's also a text version of the interview in the Articles Section.

Thank you so much Fran. I supposed it .I didn't see you have posted it on your tweeter account. I searched in the GALLERY before posting but I didn't find where it was. Finally I didn't delete my post. It's always a pleasure to read again something about Simon wink
