Thank you so much Ruuger. How did I miss this interview broadcasted today on French TV Channel ? I do not watch TV at that time !

Nothing we didn't already know !! (always the same extracts videos) but Simon is really georgous and amazing and charming as usual !!!

At the end of the interview he says : "I am me, and that's the most important" .......... "and I'll always be me". A beautiful lesson of humility !
So true !!! And this is how we love him !

He concludes saying in French "JE VOUS AIME" (I love you)

Here's a quick transcript of the interview bits:

Coming from the French, it's very flattering. There are very sexy men in France. There's also a lot of very sexy women. I'm a little more interested in them. I don't really know what to say, I'm embarrassed and flustered, and I don't- you know...

I probably had the pretty normal kind of coastal Australian upbringing. You play rugby, you fish, you surf, you swim. Water polo. You drank, and you fought. And on occation you got to dance with a girl. That was kinda it. It was a rugged environment, but, you know, positive.

In Australia, they make a lot of pretty good television. People talk about all these Australian actors who make it to Hollywood these days, and 90% of those actors have had parts in those shows in Australia. I learned a lot technique of acting, performing and of shooting stuff and process through my experience in those shows when I was, you know, twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two.

People said to me, "you should go to America, you should try there" and once I got it in my head, I couldn't live with myself properly if I didn't give it a try. That's just my nature. I had a wife and a child at the time, we were young, both very young, and I remember we sort of looked at each other and said "if you don't go, you'll never know".

Culturally, that was a big shock. Most of it was shot on the lot [...] and you'd see the Warner Brothers symbol and or the Paramount gates, and whenever I'd drive onto the lot, I had to pinch myself, "well, this is all bit weird and surreal". So it was strange.

The thing that stood out about this character was that although he's American, he had and European way of thinking as well. He's not afraid to disagree in a kind of a charming and relaxed way [...] but I am gonna tell you that I don't think you're you're right. I think that's what makes him different in an American crime procedural show.

There's an expectation that I'm always going to put myself together in that fashion that's not necessarily right. I do care about presenting myself in a certain way, like ost people I like to feel comfortable with my image, but, you know, I don't wear suits all the time.

I am me, and that's the most important thing, and whenever I feel like there's an exectation of me having to fit into a mold of being a style icon or you know the actor from this show [...] because all of this, and any of the success I was me and I will always be me.

I couldn't make out all of it, so feel free to correct if I got something wrong or add the parts that I missed.

(something about French men being sexy]

Simon says : "Coming from French people it is extremely flattering. The Frenchmen themselves are very sexy and the Frenchwomen also. To tell the truth I'm a little more interested in them !..... No, I don't know what to answer. ................"

The women and the men answered to the opinion poll. But maybe that there were more women who voted !!! tongue :p tongue

At 3:46 of the video, there is a translation error in French because when Simon decides to leave Australia he says "I had a wife and a child" and the translator translates : " at the time I already had my children and my wife"
However, he had only Stella !!

Thanks for the translation Ruuger and also Evy, much appreciated. Aren't we glad he took that risk and went to America? Fame hasn't changed him though...."I was me, and I will always be me". That's why we love him so! biggrin

Well it's sunday, it's noon here in France and "Simon Baker" is still trending on Twitter since saturday afternoon!
He's really popular here for his acting abilities and his good looks, especially among young people, as Twitter proves it. And I can tell you Simon can blush, because there are loads of rather hot comments on him from girls even younger than his daughter biggrin

It seems that he is much more appreciated in Europe than USA. I've always found it very strange that he is so underrated in USA considering his various talents, charm, looks, demeanor ... Perhaps it's because of lack of scandals and the press doesn't like it?
