It isn't solely a Crime drama, but really a Drama (with BIG D)....the writing of the relationships within the team are built with such intelligence and attention to detail.

Exactly! I think these things need to be viewed in context, and viewing habits have changed and will no doubt continue to change. There are very few scripted shows these days that get more than 10m viewers, the only significant exceptions being NCIS (Tuesdays) and The Big Bang Theory (Thursdays).
For example, I see that last week in The Mentalist's previous Thursday 10pm slot, Elementary got 8.13m with a 1.6 (18-49) demo. This is well down on The Mentalist Season 4 (2011/12) when it averaged over 13m with a 2.6 demo (and I remember people complaining then about the poor figures!) |

I understand what you say, Fran. The thing is that I would like to see very good numbers every week and everybody watching The Mentalist. I miss more support from some part of the US audience, especially now with the renewal still in the air. I think the ratings should be better, in my opinion. |
