Quote (Peithon) Someone I know tweeted 'I am standing right in front of him and his eyes are green, not blue.'
Interesting. Well, one more defence for the benefice of the "Green" side! |

Quote (DS_Pallas) I suspect he's only kidding with the interviewer. Just a guess. We know he can be a rascal…
Yeah, I agree DS. That was the impression I got from that comment...that he was winding them up. I can even see the slight tilt of the head, sideways glance and smirk that he usually gives when he's joking about something. He kind of pauses to see if they think he's telling the truth...what a mischievous munchkin he is!!
And if I remember correctly from my days of studying German, Bild is kind of a tabloid-magazine type of publication that is quite sensationalist - Judging by the fact that they used that as the article headline, I think there's alot of leaning towards sexy, smutty kind of stuff in it ---- I might be wrong, please correct me if I am, I won't be offended.

Peithon, who was this person and why didn't they have you standing next to them?!!!!!! lol. I would have insisted on escorting them!

AgentM, unfortunately I am unable to travel, but she went to his walk of fame event and he signed an autograph for her and she got a rose. She specifically wanted to straighten out the fanfic writers who insist he has blue eyes. If you have a good quality TV it's really not even in question, however pictures can be deceiving because they are often retouched in magazines and ads. |

I agree. He's definitely winding them up. He can say what he wants, but there's a little bit of Patrick Jane in Simon. |

I agree with you all about the 50Shades comment, although it may be that Simon wouldn't rule out anything until he'd seen a script. The trouble is that it's now being reported all over the place that Simon said he would love to be in it - just goes to show how easily false news items can become widespread. |

I must admit, when I was in Australia with my family a few years back for vacation, I liked Vegemite (on toast). My hubby and one of my sons hated it, but the other son liked it as well.
I think it's hilarious that the "shades of grey" story is making the rounds. I hate gossip press with a passion, and this just goes to show you how it "works." They would be just as happy to make something up and report it if it suited them and they thought it would sell their rags. |

Regarding the blue versus green eyes. I realise that he has green eyes but just think they always look bluey grey. Colour TV and especially photos can lie obviously.
About 50 shades, is there anyone out there thinks he should be in it. |

And the entertainment press never fact checks (hell the regular press doesn't bother these days much either). A few years ago Andrea Corr was in a movie that won an award at an American film festival. On the Corrs website, they named the film festival as the Colorado Film Festival (mistakenly) and it got picked up by several press outlets. Thing is, there's no such thing as the Colorado Film Festival. After some digging by myself, I discovered that her movie had indeed won an award at a festival held in Colorado but not named that. Not a single press outlet bothered to find out if that film festival actually existed! And that's an example of why you should never trust the entertainment media. They also take a quote out of context and run with it. That's why celebs all have people who have to issue these rebuttals constantly. Annoying. Luckily the entertainment press so far as ignored that crap that crazy Canadian woman releases as actual press releases or things would be even worse [though some blogs have picked up crap she's posted about other celebs sadly] |

I vote absolutely NOT!!!! Haven't read it on account of the fact that, from talking to people who have, it was really poorly written erotica....that plus, I don't tend to believe the hype with these things - and it's not really my cup of tea. Simon (although he may have kinky side ) can do waaaaayyyyyyyy better than that. Besides, I though R-Pat had been lined up for it?

A thought here - talking about press not checking their facts etc.... It seems everyone has an opinion about 50 shades even (or especially) if they haven't read it. Personally I really enjoyed the trilogy as I thought the story was very powerful - yes there was an erotic backdrop .... Personally I thought it was well written - but I judge on face value and am not a literary critic. For me the story flowed smoothly, made sense and didnt have obvious flaws.
I think that most stories have 2 elements - the actual story and the backdrop. Christian Grey is a powerful highly complex evolving character as well as being drop dead gorgeous (and completely unaware of it) and charismatic. He is a very successful businessman while still in his 20s as he is able to persuade people to follow him - as well as being very smart and has an honest business ethic. He is intriguing, manipulative, decisive, coordinated (flies his own helicopter). Can you see why Simon would be so good in this role - many of the elements he enjoys - complexity of character, depth of story and he certainly has the charisma and looks.
There is always a but. Christian is haunted by an evil past and his particular coping mechanism (due to abuse he suffered as a child) involves domination. Through the story he learns to deal with it and realise that he doesnt have to be that way. Similar to an alcoholic, drug addict, or being obsessed by the murder of your wife and child........ Its a powerful story about having everything (superficially) and battling to overcome an issue at the heart of your being...
Christian is 27 when the story starts - so potentially Simon is too old... It will be a challenge to make the movie so that it can still get a 15+ rating rather than R18 and personally I wouldnt want Simon to do so many sex scenes (its not like there is just one...). I think it is a very difficult role to play and if Universal miscast it will be to the detriment of the film. ...... Just my thoughts..... |

French interview - L'Express Culture: http://www.lexpress.fr/culture....01.html
Google translation: Simon Baker: "I do not have time to watch TV!" By Christophe Carrière (LEXPRESS.fr) , published13/04/2013
So there is life after The Mentalist , or for, as the series continues. Simon Baker, irresistible hero of the great "romcom" Marriage in English e is passed through Paris without publicist glued to her buttocks in his talks. The star could not be more relaxed, smiling, available ... In short, ready to answer.
You've done a lot of movies. But have never actually drilled on the big screen ... Already, the mentalist takes time. Ten months a year, roughly. I find unbelievable to have managed to turn some-more film because it's on my free time is very limited. Killer Inside Me , Margin Call , I Give It A Year ... In addition I am a father, I have three children ... A series like The Mentalist , is ideal: it can support my family, and because turning near me every night to go home. Everyone is happy. Besides the success of the series obviously leads to many opportunities.
Precisely what is I Give It A Year ? From The Devil Wears Prada , I was often offered the same role charming cad. But I wanted something consistent with The Mentalist . A character both sympathetic and a little twisted. To give you an idea, in the romantic comedy genre, I love Four Weddings and a Funeral . This preference is not very original, but we forget why this film has been so successful: because it is not cutesy and more insolent than it seems. The same way as were the films Preston Sturges , George Cukor ... I Give It A Year falls modestly in this vein, resetting the genre. The culmination of the film is not marriage, because it starts with, but whether these two have done well to unite.
In "two of them" as you say, there is Rose Byrne , heroine of the series Damages . On the set, you talked about your experiences on your successful series? A little, not too much. First, because I know Rose long: she is, like me, Australian. Then, because I've never seen an episode of Damages ! I work a lot and do not find time to watch TV. To give you an idea of my ignorance of TV, know that I've never seen The Sopranos or a single episode of Friends ! And my friends accuse me of not ever take the time to watch The Wire , it seems that it is a pure masterpiece.
And Columbo, including The Mentalist is somehow descended? I see the parallel, yes. Old car, no fight ... But my evidence is more psychological, like his, material. And I do not see The Mentalist as meek as a pacifist is Columbo.
Do you go to movies? In recent months, I managed to see a lot of things because for the first time, I voted for the Oscars. And I loved Happiness Therapy , The Impossible -story simple enough, but with special effects and incredible scenery, Amour -I may prefer the White Ribbon , yet it is ridiculous to compare, as they are in a different niche. But my real cures movie, I'm in Australia where everything comes out in theaters, unlike the United States. I'll probably enjoy this summer. In September, finished! I attack the season 6 of The Mentalist . So, over too long. |
