GQ Spain interview - June 2013: http://www.revistagq.com/articul....74
Rough translation: Simon Baker: "Am I the perfect gentleman? No."
A Sex symbol on the screen, a parent in real life, a gentleman full time. Simon Baker (Australia, 1969), better known as 'The Mentalist', lives at the peak of his career. But he will not let it go to his head ...
GQ: How were you convinced to be the new face of Givenchy? Simon Baker: Well, between my wife, my manager and a couple of friends convinced me. At first I was a little unsure. When I’m offered something too good and out of the blue, I always think there is something fishy. I guess it has to do with my working roots. Also, I do not look like an obvious choice. Then I realized that that was what they liked about me.
GQ: You've always kept out of the limelight. Do you think this could put more light in your life? SB: No, I think not. My private life has been protected from the media because it has never been controversial. And I do not think this will necessarily add any controversy.
GQ: 'The Mentalist' is a very elegant character. Do you think that has influenced the choice of Givenchy? SB: I'm sure it did. I've done about 20 movies, but most people know me by 'The Mentalist'. And I can only be thankful, because thanks to this series, I have been given many opportunities.
GQ: How do you deal with this sudden popularity? Because you seem a shy person who flees from all this ... SB: Yes, I am a shy person and so I will reach a point where I cannot take any more tension and I have to run and hide. It's different when I act, it is not me who is in front of the camera, it’s a mask. In a commercial I'm also wearing that mask, but I'm promoting a product. So to be honest it’s essentially me that appears there. Of course, there's a part of it that’s acting, but I cannot hide behind that. Am I the perfect gentleman? No. Do I aspire to be a gentleman ? Yes, I have always aspired to be. I have been brought up to have good manners: look people in the eye when they shake hands, open the door to ladies, courtesy, politeness, respect, be curious. Do I manage it completely? Well no, because I'm human, but I try.
GQ: You also show up regularly on lists of sexiest men. What do you feel when you look at them? SB: It's just part of the business. If I was a software developer rather than an actor, I would be put on the list of most innovative professionals, not that of the sexiest. In all sectors there’s some kind of list and it is clear that sex sells. I see myself as a normal good-looking guy, if you saw me walking down the street you would not notice me ... Oh, my God! The good thing about all this is that it’s happening to me in my maturity. Larry King on his show asked me what I thought of being considered a sex symbol , and I told him that of all things I had been called in my life, it was perhaps the least offensive [laughs].
GQ: Clive Owen once told me his wife and children think its funny. Is that true in your family? SB: Yes, yes, my kids think it's good for a laugh, as do my friends. It's the same with my childhood friends. It is neither good nor bad. When I speak to a woman I enjoy her company and flirting, but that's it. As a man I like it, it makes me feel alive, but that's it, I'm still an ordinary man who has to take out the trash, and I enjoy it, I enjoy doing the typical things of a man, and supporting my family.

June - I just used google translate but then I tried to improve the English. Unfortunately sometimes it doesn't make sense so I have to make a best guess at the meaning, which may be wrong - that's why I said "rough" translation and haven't put it in the Articles Section.
I'd greatly appreciate any help you can give, and if you see any mistakes in my translation I'd be very happy for you to tell me so that I can correct it. |

2 page Lithuanian article & interview
It says the original source was Elle, and it seems to be a re-working of other articles we've seen.
