Hi redbird. Nice to have you on the site. Where are you from?

Yes, I still hope too that we get more than 13 episodes. I feel bad to wish that a new show fails, but I do ...I know it's the only chance to get more than 13 episodes. And I would be so happy about that. The long waiting is hard too. It would be great if TM starts earlier. I'm somebody who doesn't give up hope til the end....

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm from the US - I live in Richmond, Virginia.

I'm no detective, I can assure you. My stint as an amateur detective was a totally selfish endeavor - I want Season 7 sooner rather than later and I really don't want to see The Mentalist come to an end. If it does have to come to an end, I'm hoping for the next best thing - more than 13 episodes in the final season.

Greetings Redbird! I would be great if we could wrangle more than 13 episodes out of CBS, doubtful though. I am somewhat optimistic that we might see TM in 2014 rather the January 2015.

Thank you Syriana. I'm sorry for Nathan Fillion but this interview doesn't make me want to watch "Castle". Sure Simon is more handsome and much more talented tongue

Castle came after TM, in a wave of series that put a charming and handsome 'charactery' man in the lead and watch it become a success. TM started that trend as it was the only successful show in the year they had the writers strike and the 'bones' of the series was much copied, but Castle, due to its excellent timeslot after ABCs very popular Dancing With the Stars, was one of the very few survivors. It has a dedicated fan following and it's fluffy stuff aimed at shippers. Although TM is often compared to Murder She Wrote, Castle is actually more comparable. There is a summer series called Taxi Brooklyn supposedly based on a french film called Taxi, but it plays like Castle drives a cab instead of being a writer, but it is not very good. It is an American French co-production on NBC and also on TF1. It does pretty decent in the USA.

I watch sooo many US shows, but Castle never really interested me ...never saw an episode. Maybe because I don't care about the 2 leads ...

I thought Robin Tunney was much more convincing as a cop than Stana Katic. Katic is a beautiful woman, but her model looks and her fashionista clothes are hardly credible… happy

I quite enjoy Castle, some funny episodes, but the lead characters lack the depth and the drama you can find in Lisbon and Jane.

Obviously Castle is a very successful series but I have never had the desire to watch it and don't find the two main characters at all captivating totally unlike our beloved TM.

I've watched a few episodes of Castle. I don't like the female lead, as a cop, anyway. With Robin Tunney you believe she could be a cop. She doesn't wear stilettos to work, for instance, and doesn't look like she walked out of a fashion magazine.

Plus, Fillion's character is not nearly as compelling as Patrick Jane. He's less...intense. Shallower, and therefore much less attractive to me, personally. The relationship on that show that I do enjoy is Castle's relationship with his daughter. They have the best chemistry on the show.

Castle is a classic "will they or won't they" between the leads. The nice thing about TM is that, because of Jane's obsession with RJ, romance was really "out of the picture." for him. This allowed the relationship between Jane and Lisbon to blossom along lines deeper than pure physical attraction. They're friends. They've been through "hell" together, and are bonded in a way that is much deeper. Their romance has never been the focus of the show.

I personally think that their being together will not detract from the show at all, and rather, is part of the healing arc of Patrick Jane, which is really the story of the show.

Agree. I wasn't a "shipper", but this slow evolution in their relationship makes sense.
