Or that CBS sees what they did do an extraordinary show! Even if it's too late, I want them to regret that they have treated TM so poorly.

I see where you're coming from dear Tina, but there is no such things as "regrets" in the TV business world I'm afraid happy

CBS already had made the decision about The Mentalist. I don't think better ratings had changed something but I'm curious to know the real numbers.

I'm not really sure if CBS or the TM team has decided that this is the last season ...since there is no word from CBS yet. Why not say it officially when they have decided it.
I think it's possible that Simon would not have made another contract after Season 7 even if the numbers were better and CBS wanted a 8th Season...

I just would have loved to get a full season ...and with some of the other shows really not doing too well yet...maybe the CBS people admit at least to each other that they might not have made the best decisions. TM really didn't do too bad on Sunday night!

It is curious that CBS hasn't made any official announcement about this being the last season. I wonder if the just want to hedge their bets. I also wonder where Simon sits on this, he has said he looks forward to down time, but also has said that he wouldn't walk away from Patrick Jane. In an interview with Robin she certainly said that this was the last season. I think the studio has an interest in keeping the actors in their contract until the final hour. If they get in bind, then they can pull the cast back and make more episodes. I hold on to a tiny glimmer of hope for more TM, but I think that it would take miraculous ratings for TM and disaster for the other shows for us to get more than 13 episodes.

I assume that this is the last season. It would be a surprise (good, of course) if there was one more. The problem is that 13 episodes is nothing and I'm still thinking that TM deserved a complete season. Are really the numbers of any new and old show better than TM's? No!!!

There was chat somewhere about Erin Donovan (new writer on the team) being a friend of Chris Long, it seems they're married based on this @ebsdonovan tweet: https://twitter.com/ebsdonovan/status/503051344324730881

"After 29 years it occurs to me… I may have married up… Chris Long Inks Warner Bros. TV Deal http://deadline.com/2014/08/chris-long-warner-bros-tv-deal-823617/ "

Considering the number of votes that are required, I'm not sure it's worth wasting voting time on favourite tv duo, probably better to focus on crime drama and actor categories.

If you're just voting occasionally then it doesn't make much difference how you do it, but if you're mass voting then it makes sense to vote as efficiently as possible in the categories where they stand a real chance of getting through - that's what the other fandoms will be doing.

Still no news about a possible date for the airing of Season 7 of TM…

Then today on SpoilerTV, they say:
'Madam Secretary,' 'Scorpion,' 'NCIS: New Orleans' and 'Stalker' Land Full Seasons at CBS

http://www.spoilertv.com/2014....ew.html

I've found this comment, and I don't know enough about US TV to see if it's accurate or pure speculation, but it's a bit depressing, because this hiatus is soooooo long:

"CBS gave full season orders for all their four new dramas…which means there won’t be a free slot for The Mentalist to take over. If they don’t give one of those shows an extremly long hiatus (and air season 7 of the Mentalist in between)… I don’t really see us getting a premier date before at least March (and this also only works if some of the new shows get full episode orders of only 15 or 18 episodes, so that they could be finished at around March).

The (only) positive aspect of the announcement by CBS yesterday is that we probably won’t have to wait too long until they finally announce a premiere date for the Mentalist. After having decided the faith of all their fall dramas there’s nothing that prevents CBS from creating the midseason/spring schedule…so hopefully we get our premier date announcement quite soon."

There will be several free slots on CBS's schedule once Thursday Night NFL Football ends somewhere around December. CBS's entire Thursday night will have to be filled with additional programming and the CBS schedule announcement that I read several months ago indicated that The Mentalist is part of the programming that CBS has on the backburner to round out its schedule.

On a more depressing note, I did read something on tv by the numbers that suggested that all of CBS's new dramas are doing so well that The Mentalist might not return until Spring or Summer. That just further added to my confusion about what CBS is doing.
