Wow they are really getting us going with the posters aren't. Do you think they will paint him out completely?

The Mentalist Exclusive: Rockmond Dunbar Promoted to Series Regular

Rockmond Dunbar‘s first Mentalist episode hasn’t even aired yet, but the Sons of Anarchy actor has already earned a permanent place on the show’s call sheet.

Dunbar, who was initially hired for a three-episode arc, has been promoted to a full-fledged series regular on the CBS procedural, TVLine has learned exclusively.

As we previously reported, he will play Dennis Abbott, a no-nonsense FBI Supervisory Agent who isn’t impressed by Patrick Jane’s skills or charm. His first episode is slated to air on Nov. 10.

Abbott is one of two new characters being added for Season 6, in preparation for these two midseason exits. The other is FBI agent Kim Fischer (Monday Mornings‘ Emily Swallow), a thirtysomething ex-homicide detective from Dallas who is not afraid to stand up for herself.

Does anyone else think that PJ and Theresa are joining forces with the FBI. Maybe Theresa is offered a post there and Patrick continues as consultant after the brouhaha at CBI.

I wouldn't be surprised for this to happen, though it DOES seem that Patrick may go 'off the range' for a while if the pictures from 'my blue Heaven' are anything to go by...unless he has changed his style of clothing considerably.........!! biggrin

It sure looks as if PJ goes to Mexico for a while. I had the thought too that Lisbon and Jane work for the FBI in the future. Maybe Cho too?
I'm really curious what Bruno has planned for the story after RJ.

Mentalist: Robin Tunney and Simon Baker are "very close"

Interview by Emmanuelle Litaud Published 29/10/2013 at 09:00

At age 41, Robin Tunney looks actually ten years younger. Blue eyes and beguiling smile, the actress who plays Teresa Lisbon in The Mentalist, is beaming. I must say that eveything looks great to her: she just got engaged and the series is a success all around the world.

Robin Tunney, how would you describe the evolution of the Jane and Lisbon relationship?

In the first season, their relationship was more like one between a mother and an "enfant terrible", and I love the fact that it has evolved. They can be like mother and son, brother and sister and sometimes like lovers. It's great to play because it is a three dimensional relation. In most other shows, the two main characters end up being together, but I think it would be good if it remains platonic between them.

What do you think about the feelings of Teresa towards Patrick?

I think she's in love with him, but she is afraid of changing the situation. They are extremely close and she doesn't want to ruin this relationship.

In real life, what is your relationship with Simon Baker?

He is like a family member, we are very close. He is greatly supportive, on a professional and personal level. With his wife, they have been together for more than twenty-two years, it's so rare! It really is a beautiful love story. He has a wonderful family.

And you are engaged...

Since Christmas! The ceremony will take place next summer.

Will Simon Baker be your best man?

Could be! He supports me very much and is very protective of me. When I was dating my boyfriend since just a month, we went to dinner with him. He wanted to get an opinion on him and eventually greatly appreciated him.

Does the great love story between Simon and his wife inspire you?

It's weird, I feel that knowing Simon has made me more demanding towards men. He is indeed a wonderful father, very involved in the life of his children. He made many sacrifices for them. He works very hard, but his wife comes first, he loves her so much. I think that I too deserve a man like him...

Things to know

Robin Tunney is favourable to a real epilogue: "I want a real ending, which is not always the case in the TV series. I think, for viewers who have followed us for more than 100 episodes, it is important to have an end, as there is one in a movie or a book."

There you go again, Robin, with the Jane/Lisbon platonic stuff. Grrrr.

I do hope she's right about the real ending.

Perhaps Jane, Lisbon & Cho will be drawn into a Federal investigation of this agency-wide conspiracy after RJ's departure; after all, as we've learned, the two new permanent characters are both FBI agents. In which case, some of the current suspects (Haffner, Smith, Bertrum & McAllister), who apparently are involved in this "Tiger, Tiger" puzzle, will be around for future storylines.

Great interview. How sweet that he's protective of her, and that knowing Simon has made her expect more from men. Simon and Robin are both class acts.

Thanks for the interview. I love how she and Simon have become such good friends. Amused me that he wanted to meet the boyfriend. He's like her big brother it seems (though they really are of an age). I've read that she's been a bit unlucky in love in the past, so hopefully she's found her guy like Simon. love There are guys like that all over but it seems sad somehow that in Hollywood he stands out as rare, you know?
