Me too! smile There is no german speaking fan base (as far as I know), so I had to improve my languags skills and turn to english and french based fan sites and I'm so happy to have come home here with my interest in Simon, because at my real home they roll their eyes (except from my mother, aged 91, who admitted recently she likes to watch The Mentalist, too).

It's such a great little group here! I'm so happy to belong to it. Makes my days brighter, because I LOVE to talk about Simon.
And there is no other group as friendly as this one. It's the only fan group I post.

I couldn´t agree more - This is such a friendly place full of Simon Baker enthusiastics and we all benefit from eachother! May it be language or technic skills or else what.
We all try our best here and help eachother out (e.g. with translations...) and I really do like that we are from so many different countries/ languages. It makes it even more intresting and colourful here.
As all of us, non-english-natives I improved a lot through talking free here and you (english natives) never made me feel I had to worry about wrong grammar or what not (I would appreciate corrections, though wink )
In some other english speaking forums (different subject, don´t worry), I found english natives (mostly USA) who write a really bad english, so I sometimes feel like I want to correct them... wacko
Yes, we are a nice bunch alltogether!

I know exactly what you mean beautifulbabyboy! As an English teacher, sometimes I do despair over the mistakes made by supposedly native speakers --- that's why I'm so impressed by all of you - you learn the language properly, and it is with experience and practice that you pick up on words and phrases that are used in a common and slang manner (conversational English)

So tres bien and ausgezeichnet to you all! biggrin flower

Not exactly sure where to post this, but Heller cast his lead for The Advocates, Ben McKenzie of Southland. Chiriqui has also been cast in another pilot for CBS.

French interview: http://www.lefigaro.fr/culture....fum.php

Google translation:
Simon Baker, the mentalist starts fragrance
INTERVIEW - Elected as one of the sexiest men on the planet, the actor's favorite soap opera of the French, was chosen to be the ambassador of a new fragrance called Gentlemen Only, a new men's fragrance from Givenchy. The opportunity to meet him in Los Angeles.

When we met in his box, plaid shirt, jacket and small white canvas: it is certain, it is not his 43 years. And even with his glasses views nose, you have the impression to have in front of you one Australian student on vacation, a family man. But it is with her 3 children. The secret of youth? Probably a good genetic base, but also having enjoyed success later in life.

Despite some notable appearances in film (in LA Confidential or The Devil Wears Prada) is in effect only a few years ago, the small screen has made him an international star when he began to embody Patrick Jane in the police series The Mentalist . Also that charming manipulator, his character triumph in the world, and especially in France, where, with nearly 10 million viewers, the series was the most watched drama last year on television.

However, this success has not gone to his head. This former surfing champion, even admits "he was surprised that French house Givenchy as aristocratic can think him to be the ambassador of his new fragrance. "Modesty fake or real? Since it will be the embodiment of a fragrance called Gentlemen only , it was certainly a good excuse to do an interview with him on the subject ...

Behave like a gentleman, it means what you think? This is not a term fashioned?

SIMON BAKER - Not at all. It is a concept that transcends eras and modes. Try to behave like a gentleman is an inspiring project in existence. My parents raised me in this direction, instilling in me a few basics such as courtesy, respect for others and of course the determination.

A nineteenth-century English proverb says: "A gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipes but does not."

A good definition ... and still valid. A gentleman is not a "show-off", rather it is someone who is restrained, regardless of his talents, he does not put forward, it does not seek to capture attention.

Teenager in Australia, you practice hard water polo and surfing. Sport is it a good school to become a gentleman?

This has the merit of discipline you, but I must say that for me surfing, it is primarily for recreation, rather than education. We do need a board and it is integral with the nature.Où I go, I surf if I can. In France, I have fond memories of my trips to Hossegor, there is not so long. For the rest, I compare surfing rather than my acting. In both cases it is a good adrenaline rush, and the obligation to remain as flexible and as natural as possible if we are willing to take the wave or deliver his text.

Your father, Barry, was a mechanic, your stepfather, Tom, was a butcher. Were they provided gentlemen?

Add to that they are both Australian, and it is certain that there is a century and a half they would have struggled to be qualified as well ( laughs ). What is nice is that the notion of a gentleman powerfully changed since Queen Victoria. It's been a long time now, it is no longer a question of social position or title, it is a way of approaching the world. It is not noble blood but feelings. One way to behave in everyday life.

This is what you instill in your two son, Claude and Harry?

This may be a bit old fashioned, but yes, I try to teach them to respect others. To be both polite and diplomats, that does not mean obsequious. Finally, I remind them that discretion, which is a real feature of the gentleman in my eyes, also gives them a great independence from the gaze of others. Anyway, I'm just trying to do good guys, and I still remember what I told my wife: "I'm glad I had two boys, because this world still sorely lacking men of good will. "

Would you say that the character you play in the Mentalist , Patrick Jane, is a gentleman?

Oh no! It is far too chatty and selfish. But it did not matter because I love playing roles bastard. In my next film in the cinema, I Give it a Year ( released in France in April, ed ), the character I play is not an angel, which was quite exhilarating ...

What is the actor who best symbolizes the gentleman in your eyes?

The Anglo-Saxon side, I think the prototype is obviously Cary Grant. Rough and chic at the same time. French side, I will fall for Jean-Paul Belmondo, an actor who emerges on the screen incredible strength.

And Errol Flynn, the actor born in Tasmania just like you?

It is both the gentleman and the devil ... as all men born in Tasmania!

What is your evil side then? When you lose your composure gentleman?

We are all human and I confess that I sometimes reactive disproportionately with my children when they abuse my patience. What do you want to be a parent is a constant challenge.

You now have 43 years. Would you say that advancing age is becoming more gentleman?

I only say that it is easier to comply with the idea that it is in fact. Already taking this as good news ...

From small to big screen, the actor appears with the same constancy, charm and casualness.

A street in New York reconstituted board in Los Angeles, a team of 100 people and a director of photography (Darius Khondji in the foreground with the hat), which highlighted Love , demichael Haneke and the last Woody Allen: Givenchy pulled out all the stops to Simon Baker.

I love the second photo, that hand! Funny his answer when they ask him about Errol Flynn. When I was a little girl I liked Errol Flynn, "Robin Hood" is one of my favorite movies. That actor had some of gentleman, devil, rogue, charm,... just like Simon, isn't?
