FBI Special Agent Marcus Pike, who debuts in Episode 16, is described as “a charming man with integrity, a blue collar cop with FBI smarts.” When he brings in Jane and Lisbon to help track a band of art thieves, he takes an instant shine to the latter and sets out to sweep Lisbon off her feet. He’ll be around for at least five episodes, maybe more.
I'm not mad but if CBS decides to cancel The Mentalist I would be disappointed to only have 1 episode if any of J/L as a couple. On the other side, if there is a 7th season I would just enjoy the 5 episode with Lisbons boyfriend. She truly deserves to be wooed.

I agree totally with Raven. I'm not against Lisbon having a boyfriend (for a while) but in my mind Jane and Lisbon have such a deep, meaningful and special relationship which we have seen grow over the course of almost 6 years and I think Jane would be devastated if it became serious between Lisbon and this boyfriend. He clearly loves Lisbon but perhaps believes that he is not worthy of her affection and that she is too good for him. I know he has sometimes seemed to have been a jerk towards Lisbon but I don't want to see him hurt. I think he has had more than his fair share of tragedy in his life and deserves to find love and I think Lisbon is the only one who really understands him and his ways, and could make him truly happy. I also believe Lisbon loves Jane but, being Lisbon, is waiting for Jane to make the first move. After all she always forgives him and if that isn't love I don't know what is. Hopefully there will be a 7th Season.

Not really as shows on all of the networks will be affected by the Olympic hiatus. It's really a funny thing, people scoff that "noone watches the Olympics" yet all of the other networks put their shows in hiatus during them. Kinda makes you think hmmm they're scared of it. So people will be expecting it as all of their shows will be like this. Personally I'm glad as I'm an Olympics freak and won't be watching anything but them!
Question: I have watched The Mentalist for the last few years and was profoundly grateful when the Red John storyline ended. In the last episode, it seemed like everyone involved in bringing down Red John was being targeted by some unknown entity (presumably not Red John, unless Jane killed the wrong Red John again). Does this mean that Wayne and Grace are returning? I was just getting used to the new team. Also, is there any hope for Jane and Lisbon to become a couple or to clarify that they will not be a couple? I find the "will-they, won't-they" annoying. I don't see any chemistry between Jane and Kim. She is really, in some ways, too similar to Lisbon without the charm or affection for Jane that would be needed for a believable relationship. — Kristi
Matt Roush: It's a very transitional season for The Mentalist, obviously, so for now, with the actors' names still in the opening credits, I'd look at Owain Yeoman (Rigsby) and Amanda Righetti (Van Pelt) as "recurring regulars," who'll pop in and out of the show as the story demands. Some weeks they'll be invisible, but as long as the show follows this storyline of the targeted ex-CBI agents, they'll likely be around, though I've seen nothing to indicate they'll be back for good. Relocating them to Austin wouldn't make much sense, and this current storyline would be a smart way for them to take a final (hopefully not fatal) bow. They'll always be a part of The Mentalist's universe, though, as long as they're still breathing, so I wouldn't rule out return visits in the future. Regarding the never-ending issue of Jane and Lisbon's romantic prospects, that will likely be a slow burner for some time to come, although the post-Red John reinvention of The Mentalist seems to have liberated Simon Baker's performance, which is a lot more playful and flirtatious, ditto with Robin Tunney as his reassigned "equal." Agreed, though, that there are no sparks with the so-far-underdeveloped Kim Fischer (Emily Swallow) character, so let's hope they don't go there.
TVLine has learned exclusively that Pedro Pascal — whose recent TV credits include Graceland, Red Widow and an upcoming arc as Game of Thrones‘ Oberyn Martell — has joined the CBS procedural in the recurring role of FBI Special Agent Marcus Pike.
Pike is described as “a charming man with integrity, a blue-collar cop with FBI smarts.” As previously scooped by my Inside Line column, when the G-man enlists Jane and Lisbon to help track a band of art thieves, he takes an instant shine to the latter and sets out to sweep her off her feet.
Pascal debuts in Episode 16, and will be around for at least five episodes. The Mentalist resumes Season 6 in a few weeks, with Episode 13.
