Who do you think is the real Red John - please vote above, and post a comment if you have a particular character in mind.

My money is still on Brett Stiles, but I'm becoming increasingly suspicious of CBI Karl biggrin

I am torn between Brett Stiles and Gale Bertram. The fact that these people are willing to die for Red John leads me to believe that they must belong to Stiles' cult and are brainwashed! Also Jane has never liked Gale Bertram from the start calling him a "sleazebag", and Jane is rarely wrong about anybody. Could Bertram also belong to the cult? He doesn't seem to like Jane.

Brett Partridge in my book. Not only can the creators say he was in the series from the pilot, but we also know so little about him that he still has room to be fleshed out in any direction.

Can I hedge my bets?

My money is either on Brett Stiles, and the Visualise cult as the mechanism by which like minded psychopaths are drawn together, or Brett Partridge, since from ep one he was identified as 'irksome' and a 'goul' and is such a great creepy character.

Perhaps I can have both if Brett Stiles recruited Brett Partridge to his crew of nutters! biggrin

I think Red John is 'Ron'....CBI agent we see periodically in the background or escorting a prisoner

Writers said it was someone who has appeared so my money is on someone from the beginning so csi guy partridge is it! Its usualy the one make appearance early on. But then the big shock would be if it was one of team but depends how far heller is willing to shock. Grace with red hair too obvious. Bet if he made it cho or lisbon imagine how that would stay in fans minds forever but doubt he go that far. But you never know. How bout rigsby?

I would love it to be Bertram but i'm not sure if thats just too obvious, and then I would be questioning whoever in law enforcement hired him to head the CBI...Stiles is classically creepy but again, is he...a little too old? unless he is pulling the strings of a load of disciples..one person who has entered my head and i'm not sure if anyone else has thought about him is Ardiles..He's younger, fitter (maybe) and is always on the outskirts of the show but close enough to know what Jane and the team are doing most of the time...Just my opinion tho...probably very wrong biggrin

I adore how creepy LaRoque is and wonder WHAT he has in the container in the safe...something that is/was moist - a body part? But don't think he is that obvious. Or, wasn't Red John's first kill missing a body part? I'll have to find and rewatch that one. But he is too obvious.

Writers have stated he has been seen on the series and lurking in the background...

Lisbon or Van Pelt..nah...Rigsby - too tall if that was the real red john we saw. Cho - I hope not.

My money - a minor character seen in the background...

I believe Red John is the man in the Red Shirt sitting in between Jane and Timothy Carter in 324 Strawberries and Cream. Here's a video that (sadly, I did not make) explains it all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=590v4FCm6WU I've also found this man in the Season 1 & 2 finales!!

I'd seen this theory, but wasn't sure about it. But I'm very interested that you've spotted the same man in the Season 1 & 2 finales, I'm gonna have to take a closer look blink

I'm going with Brett Partridge. He knows how not to leave evidence and if you listen to the way he speaks in the pilot and the voice of Red John in the S2 finale, they are one and the same!!! I have a real good ear for that kind of thing. Plus Partridge appeared in both eps. If you look at the way he reacts when Jane's around it reveals a typical trait in serial killers - he feels insignificant in his daily life and so asserts his power by killing people...anonomously, and (at the moment) getting away with it. In both eps, as Partridge he seems to fear Jane slightly, he is certainly 'irked' by him, but at the same time, he is intrigued by whatever comments/thoeries Jane has to offer. Has anyone also noticed that Partrdge turns up at fake Red John crime scenes and not the real thing - in the S2 finale RJ told how he hated poor imitations of his work - coincidence? There are no coincidences when it comes to RJ. Partridge was also a little bolder as Partridge in the S2 finale - he's enjoying the fact that he is 'hiding in plain sight' so-to-speak. He also fits the age bracket for most serial killers!

Interesting to see the connection that botys made above - love the way Bruno and the writers (sounds like a band, lol) weave things into the series respect ('course it could just be that they had the same actor because they'd used him before! lol)

I'm suspicious of Brett Partridge as being RJ or an associate of his. Not only do I agree with AgentM about the similar voices, but in the Pilot what bugged me was how he explained the detail of how the RJ smiley was drawn... with the three fingers of the right hand, etc. Too much detail. Plus his character is too creepy and disturbed not to be part of RJ somehow.
