Didn't he also said in an interview, and Robin for sure as far as I remember, that they might not know about renewal til May? I don't think it's already decided, because it doesn't make sense to not let the fans know about it, in case it gets cancelled. But I do think we won't get a 8th season. Maybe Simon meant that ...since contracst are only til Season 7. And I guess Simon will not renew his contract ... |

It seems the long break now is due to the Olympics. That makes sense. I was worried because they never had such a long break in a season. But it seems a lot of shows are not aired with new episodes in February...can anybody from the US confirm that? |

June, here is the link for the article http://www.couriermail.com.au/enterta....lic_rss
As yet, there has been no confirmation of a seventh season of The Mentalist. But Baker confirms there is a plan to wrap up the show: "There is an end in sight, but I'm not allowed to reveal it." |

You're right Fran about popularity. Anecdotally, Canal + wanted to buy TM but TF1 bought it before. Fortunately for TM because TF1 has a much bigger audience than Canal + which is a cable channel. In addition, each season, for 4 months, TF1 spent two new episodes every Tuesday over an old episode, so this is a whole evening. |

Quote Ivana ( ) Simon said in one of the recent interview that TM team already knows when and how the series ends, but he couldn't talk about it then. As you say, in the CourierMail interview, it said: Quote Ivana ( ) As yet, there has been no confirmation of a seventh season of The Mentalist. But Baker confirms there is a plan to wrap up the show: "There is an end in sight, but I'm not allowed to reveal it." But I don't think Simon meant that they know when the show would end because in a previous paragraph in the same article he was quoted as saying: "We have a pretty open dialogue about the direction it goes in. It'll get infinitely more interesting for me when we have an end date; when we know, OK, it's only going to be one more year so we ought to close up all the stories." |

Fran, I've got the feeling that Simon (and whole TM team) knows that they have one more season, but maybe they are waiting for official conformation. Maybe I am reading too much between the lines or it is just my wishful thinking |

Ivana, I more-or-less agree with you, my own opinion is that they're planning on a final Season 7, and that CBS has agreed to that subject to the ratings not significantly reducing over the 2nd half of this season. |

Quote marta75 ( ) Fortunately for TM because TF1 has a much bigger audience than Canal + which is a cable channel.
I agree with the fact that TM being brodcast on TF1 (a channel with a very large audience in France) is a huge factor in its success. But it's still the best audience *ever* for a TV series on TF1, and on french TV actually. It even has highest figures than for instance "House" had (a big big hit here in France and brodcast as well by TF1). On France 2 (the leader of public channels, like the BBC in UK, and best rival of TF1), "Castle" is making around 20% of market shares, around 6 M viewers, wich is very good, but I'm convinced "The Mentalist" would do better than that on the same network. Don't ask me to prove it, I can't |

No doubt : the French housewife of under 50 years does not hesitate to change the TV channel to watch "her" Simon !

DS Pallas and Evy, I totally agree with you : no matter the TV channel in France, TM will be the first with Simon |

The fact is, he has also a very young following here in France, contrary to the US, where the average viewer is older. So there's still hope for a post-Mentalist successful career for Simon! |

One ray of hope I've been holding onto is that Warner Bros signed Simon to a $30 million 3-year contract. The season 7 would be the 3rd year of that. I could be wrong, but I'm sure Warner Bros would have gotten some kind of guarantee from CBS before signing. Fingers crossed. |
